A visit to Bodbe Monastery, one of the most significant religious sites in Georgia, leaves an indelible impression. This convent, located in the picturesque Alazani Valley, is dedicated to St. Nino, who played a key role in the adoption of Christianity in Georgia. The main cathedral of the monastery, built in the 9th century, amazes with its architectural grandeur. The central element of the monastery is the Church of St. Nino, where the relics of the saint rest, who is revered as the enlightener and patroness of Georgia. Many pilgrims come here to pray at her relics. Not far from the temple there is a holy spring, known for its healing properties. It is believed that the water from this spring helps to cure many ailments (visit is not guaranteed). A visit to Bodbe Monastery is an opportunity to touch the history and spiritual heritage of Georgia, enjoy the natural beauty of the region and be inspired by the feat of St. Nino, who brought the light of the Christian faith to the Georgian land.

Next, we will go to the monastery with the most fantastic views of the Alazani Valley - Nekresi. It is considered one of the oldest monasteries in Georgia, which has great historical and cultural value. The monastery was founded in the 6th century after Christ, but most of the surviving buildings date back to the 9th-11th centuries. Nekresi is an ancient monastery complex in Kakheti, located on a mountain top in the Alazani Valley. Many centuries ago, there was once a city of the same name, Nekresi, the ruins of which can be seen from the height of the monastery.

The history of the monastery dates back to the time when Georgia converted to Christianity. In the middle of the 6th century, one of the Assyrian fathers, Abibos, also known as Aviv, arrived in Kakheti with the aim of spreading and preaching Christianity. Father Abibos founded a monastery, which for a long time had great influence on the entire region. The political and cultural influence of Nekresi spread to the mountainous region of the Eastern Caucasus. It was because of this that the Nekresi monastery often became the target of enemy attacks. Father Abibos became the bishop of Kakheti and the Nekresi monastery became his residence. In addition to spreading the faith and teachings of Christ, the monastery was an important scientific and educational center of the region. Here the monks studied theology, wrote and copied manuscripts.

Then we go to taste real Georgian wine.

Then we go to a delicious lunch overlooking the picturesque Lake Ilia.

For the night we go to the wonderful Kakhetian town of Kvareli. The program ends at approximately 19:00.

Day 2. Telavi. Sighnaghi. Bread-puri master class. Wine tasting. Lunch at a winery

We will drive to the city of Telavi, the administrative center of Kakheti, where we will visit the Alaverdi Monastery, one of the oldest and most significant religious sites in Georgia.

Tour of the monastery: The monastery was founded in the 6th century and is still an active religious center. Here you can enjoy the architecture of the monastery, see the ancient church and bell tower, and enjoy the silence and beauty of the surrounding gardens.

Panoramic views: The monastery grounds offer magnificent views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains.

Visit Sighnaghi: City of Love

The first stop will be Sighnaghi, a picturesque town on a hill surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains. Sighnaghi is called the “City of Love” due to its romantic atmosphere and magnificent views.

• Walking tour of Sighnaghi: Stroll along the narrow cobbled streets, visit the central square of the city and stop by the Sighnaghi Museum to learn about its history.

• Views of the surrounding area: Be sure to take a photo with panoramic views of the Alazani Valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus.

Sighnaghi is called the city of Love for good reason, as there is a 24-hour registry office here.

Next, we try the long macaroni (only the curly noodles of the Great Wall of China are longer) of the fortress wall with 28 meatballs of watchtowers. We look at the valley. The very same, Alazani.

And then – we try it. In a home bakery, we will try to make Georgian bread shotis puri in a hot oven – tone. And we will have a delicious snack – hot bread with a crispy crust, salty Georgian cheese and wine.

Next, we have a Kakhetian lunch.

Full and satisfied, we return to Tbilisi.
